Problem 1
Facts: It was a Monday afternoon around 14:00 in the USC Student Union during the first day of the spring semester. David was in the men’s bathroom washing his hands. David’s class started at 14:00 and was in a classroom several buildings away. He used three paper towels to wipe his hands and left the paper towels on the bathroom floor. He then left the restroom. David pushed the open the door to the men’s bathroom just as Paul grabbed the door handle from the other side. Paul had an upset stomach from eating improperly cooked pizza. The edge of the door cracked Paul in the forehead and the injury required 20 stitches.
Use the above factors to argue that: David is likely at fault.
Use the same factors in (a) to argue that: Paul is likely at fault.
